El siglo XXI ya está aquí.
The 21st century is already here.

Se abre una nueva etapa en la historia de la humanidad, una etapa que estará marcada por el desarrollo tecnológico y científico.
It opens a new stage of human history, a stage that will be marked by the technological and scientific development.

En opinión de los expertos, en el siglo XXI el hombre conquistará el espacio; creará nuevas y más rápidas redes de comunicación; descubrirá el origen de muchas enfermedades hoy mortales y desarrollará fármacos para su curación; vivirá más años; inventará instrumentos y aparatos que harán nuestra vida más cómoda; disfrutará más de su tiempo libre.
According to the opinions of those experts, in the 21st century, the human will conquer the space, create new and faster networks of communication; live longer, invent instruments and apparatus that make life more comfortable; enjoy more in your time free.

Pero según estos mismos expertos, durante el siglo XXI aumentarán las desigualdades entre países ricos y pobres; las guerras, el hambre y las sequías acabarán con una parte muy importante de la población mundial; degradaremos más el medio ambiente y agotaremos los recursos naturales que todavía quedan; disminuirán los delitos contra la propiedad (robos) pero aumentarán los delitos contra las personas (violaciones, asesinatos, agresiones) ; nos volveremos más insolidarios.
But according to these same experts, during the 21st century, the inequality between rich and poor countries will increase; the wars, hungry and droughts will end with a considerable part of world population; demote the environment further and exhaust the natural resources left; the crimes against the property (robbery) will decrease but the crimes against people (rapes, murders and aggressions) will increase; we will become less supportive.

El nuevo siglo abre nuevas puertas a la esperanza, pero también es fuente de incertidumbre y de temor.
The new century opens new ways to the hope, but is also the source of uncertainty and fear.
